Q: How can a lightsaber be made?

Genesis - 1 Answers
my question is how can a lightsaber be made?, please answer it, and thank you in advance for your collaboration
Is the Star Wars lightsaber as envisioned by George Lucas just a thing of fantasy, or can it be made? We all know about the replica lightsabers which are just illuminated tubes on a handle. However, is it possible to create some sort of beam, wether it be reflected light, lasers, or magnetized plasma, powerful enough to cut through various materials? Could this beam be used and stored safely? Could the vast energy sources needed to power this mystical weapon become portable? Many people have wondered this throughout Star Wars history, and surely everyone who has seen Star Wars wishes to wield a lightsaber themselves. Can it be done?
:As of now: No. But I think it may be possible in the future. DarthDragon164
::Like he said, not right now. If you think about it though, we aren't really far from being able to develop a lightsaber. We have lasers, and other similar things, so really, not that much would have to be different. DudsBro 14:51, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
:::But then again, compare our technology to what they have had in the GFFA. The Columi achieved interstellar travel in 2,000,000 BBY which we still haven't achieved. The earliest lightsabers were created in 9,990 BBY, which was over a million years later. Though there is a chance that we have technology that the Columi didn't (eg lasers) that would lend itself towards lightsaber creation than interstellar travel. So I don't know. But also, we have all us Star Wars fans trying to create lightsabers. DarthDragon164Dragon's Lair 17:54, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
::::It could, give scientists about 300 years or so. Jedi Kasra 19:44, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
:::::Not to mention, like DudsBro dod above, that most of us Star Wars fans try at one point or another to create lightsaber hilts. Master Replicas has got a kit that allows you to create your own Force FX saber. Jedi Kasra 19:46, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
::::::In a few decades, the technology will probably exist to create a laser or plasma beam capable of cutting through nearly everything. The big problem is the continuous length. If you develop a beam that can cut through concrete, and you fire it into the ground, its going to go a long way before running out of energy. I believe only Jedi can make lightsabers because, as Corran does in I, Jedi, they have to channel the Force into their lightsabers and this may include bending space time so that the coherent light beam bends around and goes back. :::::::Well, they wouldn't be true lightsabers, because the construction of lightsabers does require use of the Force, but it would be the closest Earthly equivilant. DarthDragon164
::::::::Suvam Tan was not Force sensitive, but he still made a lightsaber. LtNOWIS 01:28, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Plasma cutters could be used as light sabers... http://www.lincolnelectric.com/knowledge/articles/content/plasma.asp
in the story it self by a crystal you need to use for the light of the saber and some metal and put it toghter
